MS Exchange Upgrade and Migration

Business challenge

The customer was looking to Migrate from Exchange 2007 to 2013 and the company based in Toronto had different internal DNS presence than the one on the internet.

Scope of Work

Synergy IT took on a project to migrate Exchange Server 2007 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 to Exchange Server 2013 running on Windows Server 2012 R2. There were two challenges faced during this project.

Our Solution

Based on the requirement, we implemented the following tasks:

  1. Upgrading ESXi 4.0 to ESXi 5.5 to Support Windows Server 2012
  2. Configuring a split DNs for Exchange Server

The company had different internal DNS presence than the one on the internet. The caused issues with certificates as well as with DNS queries. Synergy IT implemented the split DNS solution. The benefit of this approach was to continue using the same access points internally and Externally for Exchange, while limiting any downtime for users.

Results

Another seamless exchange migration and one more happy client.
