After the infamous University of Calgary ransom cyber-attack, more bad news for Internet users. In a new updated, the website LeakedSource has revealed that a hacker has stolen information from almost 45 million accounts from over a thousand popular forums. These users are normal internet enthusiasts who have been actively chasing interests in car, tech, and sports communities.
The hack happened on VerticalScope, a Toronto based car enthusiast website with over 84 Million Unique Visitors Monthly. VerticalScope was reported to store too much data on interconnected servers—hacking into one server could have allowed the culprit(s) access to other servers. The data hacked included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, and passwords of users. This data set contains nearly 45 million records from over 1100 websites and communities. Other domains that were hacked included Techsupportforum.com MobileCampsites.com Pbnation.com and Motorcycle.com.
